For a successful job search, strong email communication is very important. I want to share some helpful tips for writing professional job search emails.

Your Email Address
• Use a professional email with your name.
Example: firstname.lastname@email.com
• Avoid nicknames or numbers.
• Don’t use your current work email—it’s not private.
[Slide shows an iris background with an image of subject line in the email message and white text reads “Subject Line”]
Subject Line
• Be clear. Include the job title and your name.
Example: “Marketing Manager – John Smith”
• Avoid ALL CAPS or spammy words. Keep it short and professional.
[Slide shows an iris background with white text reads “Content & Tone”]
Content & Tone
• Personalize: mention something about the company or person.
• Show value: highlight 2–3 skills or achievements.
• Be concise: get to the point.
• Use professional language—no slang, abbreviations, or typos. Proofread!
[Slide shows an iris background with a speaker icon and white text reads “The Ask (Call-to-Action)”]
The Ask
• Be specific: ask for a short call or virtual coffee, not just a job.
• Make it easy: suggest times, and thank them politely, even if they can’t help.

Signature
• Include full name, phone number, email, and LinkedIn link (recommend).
