This is breaking news:
Many Bay Area cities have been ordered to be under curfew (meaning the time when people are required to return to and stay in their houses or homes. That kind of order is issued by public officials), effective Sunday, May 31, 2020. Some cities and counties have curfews imposed for only one day, and others lasting up to seven days. Many protests have happened since last week over the death of George Floyd, a black man who died at the hands of several police officers in Minnesota.
This has led to many protests across the nation. Many of them have turned violent and destructive riots. Many businesses such as stores, restaurants, etc. have been broken into, looted, vandalized, and set on fire.
The order requires everyone within the city to stay home during the following designated times in the following cities:
Alameda County: 8:00 pm – 5:00 am
Danville: 10:00 pm – 5:00 am
Hayward: 8:00 pm – 5:00 am, ending June 8
Pleasant Hill: 9:30 pm – 5:30 am
San Francisco: 8:00 pm – 5:00 am
San Leandro: 6:00 pm – 5:00 am
San Jose: 8:30 pm – 5:00 am
Santa Clara: 8:30 pm – 5:00 am
Walnut Creek: 8:00 pm – 5:00 am, ending June 8
Exemption:
– First Responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs, other city and county employees engaged in authorized emergency operations, and members of the national guard.)
– Homeless people
– Authorized media representatives (news service, newspaper, radio or television station)
– People traveling to and from work.
Please continue to check for updates from your city as things may change daily. Be safe.
