DMV announced it will reopen five offices in the Bay Area to the public beginning May 8, 2020 to assist customers with existing appointments and with transactions that require an in-person visit. Please note that the DMV has said it will not accept new appointments at this time.

In addition, DMV has extended all driver licenses that have or will expire between March and May 2020 and expanded eligibility to renew online.

DMV strongly encourages customers to use virtual services (online services) to complete transactions, including driver license and vehicle registration renewals.

Starting today, May 8, DMV will open the following locations in the Bay Area, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (opening at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesdays):
