This is breaking news: Today’s news includes cities and counties that have delayed re-openings for various activities.

Coronavirus cases have surged in the past 24 hours. For example, Governor Newsom has asked one county in California (SOCAL) to revert back to stay-at-home order. Another instance is the number of positive cases in prison inmates and correctional officers that have risen in such a short time.

The state government approved San Francisco’s request earlier this morning to move into Phase three to re-open retail businesses this coming Monday, June 29th such as nail salons, barbershops, outdoor bars, zoos, etc. By noon, S.F. Mayor Breed announced at a press conference that she put a pause on re-opening these businesses as initially planned due to increased numbers of cases…

The Governor mentioned that he is prepared if more people are tested positive and hospitals/ICUs are near capacity, to revert back to stay-at-home order if needed.

Here are some links to counties and what they have opened. I want to show you what the link looks like as I compare two counties, Santa Clara County and Sonoma County.

See Santa Clara County:

Now, see Sonoma County:

Red X marks indicate that these businesses are not opened, while green check marks mean businesses and activities are allowed to re-open and resume. Make sure to check these links often in the transcript below, as changes happen daily.

Some new terms have popped up in the news. One, for instance, Social Bubble, is either allowed or not and that varies in each county. Social Bubble means “a safer way of seeing friends and family outside the household, limited to no more than a group of 12 or fewer people that agree to socialize with only each other. You can check to see if your county allows Social Bubbles in links as mentioned above.

Please continue to check your city/county for frequent updates as things may change. Also, if you are thinking about making summer vacation plans, some states require you to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. Be sure to check with that state you plan to travel in advance when you make reservations. Be safe – wear a mask and social distance.
