Hello, my name is Kata Strawn, I am the Office Coordinator at DCARA’s San Leandro Headquarters Office. During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, many stores have special hours for seniors (60 and up), disabled people, and at-risk populations (pregnant women, people with health issues, etc.) can go in to shop without too many people in the stores.

Stores have arranged for seniors to shop right after the store has been disinfected and cleaned and before others enter the store. Please check with the store before shopping as the special hours are subject to change.

To ensure your safety, you’re encouraged to wash your hands prior to entering the store and washing or sanitizing your hands as you leave the store. I will show you a list of groceries below that have initiated similar “early-bird” hours. For example, some stores have early morning hours that open daily, Tuesdays and Thursdays, once a week from 6:30 or 7 AM to 9 AM. Again, please check your preferred store for their hours of operation.
